Welcome to my page!
I grew up in the church, daughter of two pastors. One might say I have had a love/hate relationship with the church. At its best, it does redeeming Kingdom work through everyday people full of wonder and flaws. At its best, is a group of people and not an organization or building.
I have often felt like a square peg in a round hole. God has taught me, and is continually teaching me, that what He wants is me, and not a caricature. I have also found myself between the sacred and the secular, between ministry done inside the walls of the church and people doing ministry where they are: teachers, police, grocery clerks, garbage men, stay-at-home parents. I am passionate about helping others experience God's call to not only follow where they are but to do so as themselves, in Christ-like humanness.
Other important things you should know about me.
I have worked in a variety of settings from youth/children’s pastor to counselor at a residential program for juvenile sex offenders, with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors to non-for-profits for at-risk children to teaching Bible/theology and relationship classes at her local church. My family and I attend Heritage, Vida Nueva Campus..
I read too many books, am positive that cooking is a spiritual gift, I don't do our dishes as often as I should, got the most amazing and perfect man for a husband and I for him, have a beautiful daughter named Zoe, and twins from Sierra Leone, Precious and Jacobi, who along with their first momma and grandmother, are with Jesus. And that last fact has taught me much about grief and needing people and shaped my theology and my daughter's heart in ways I never imagined.
